The Pharmacy
department is active, progressive and committed to providing excellent patient-centered care. Pharmacists
and pharmacy technicians are based in hospitals in Melfort, Nipawin and
Tisdale, and provide services to all of the other hospitals and health centres
in this area.
The pharmacy operates a unit-dose drug distribution system and a modified
intravenous additive service. Members of the pharmacy department are proud
to be part of the highly functioning interdisciplinary care teams at each of the
hospitals in this area.
In addition to providing care to inpatients, the pharmacists and technicians
are involved with home intravenous therapy, palliative care, chemotherapy
outreach, primary health care, anticoagulation monitoring and the hemodialysis
program.
All of the base hospitals provide education to pharmacy students from the
College of Pharmacy, as well as pharmacy technician students from SIAST.
